A plan,
not a counter.
TaperØff tells you when you can vape. Each day your allowance tapers a little, until it reaches zero. You follow the schedule; the plan does the maths.
Coming to iPhone and Android. The free plan covers the whole journey.
How it works
Cutting down gradually gives your body time to adjust. Spacing out your sessions is how the NHS suggests doing itNHS. TaperØff turns that advice into a schedule.
-
Tell it where you are
Roughly how many puffs a normal day holds, when your day starts and ends, and what vaping costs you. Two minutes, no judgement, no account needed.
-
Choose your pace
Pick how many weeks you want the taper to take. TaperØff draws a line from today's habit down to zero and turns each day into a handful of windows.
-
Follow the windows
Your phone lets you know when a window opens. Vape or skip, one tap either way. Each day asks a little less of you, until it asks for nothing.
The curve bends. It doesn't break.
Some days run heavier. That's information, not a verdict. If a couple of days in a row run over, TaperØff offers to ease the curve: it picks up from where you actually are and slopes gently back down, and your quit day stays exactly where it was. Everything you've done still counts.
On a strong run it works the other way too, and offers to bring your quit day closer. You decide either way; the plan never changes behind your back.
Skipped a window? It goes in the bank.
Puffs you don't use aren't simply lost. Part of a day's unused allowance goes into your Puff Bank, ready for the evening that needs a little more.
The bank has a ceiling and its puffs expire after a few days, so it gives you room to breathe without stalling the taper.
One plan, three ways to follow it.
Pick the one that fits how you live. Switch whenever you like: it's the same plan underneath, so your history comes with you.
-
Windows
Scheduled windows through your day. Your phone lets you know when one opens, and you tap once: vaped or skipped.
For people who like a bit of structure.
-
Counter
A ring holding today's allowance. Tap it down as you go, whenever suits you. No schedule to keep.
For days that don't run to a timetable.
-
Pods
Log pods or bottles instead of puffs: when you open one and when it runs out. TaperØff estimates the rest.
For people who'd rather not tap at all.
We can't see your data. That's the design.
A quit journey is personal. TaperØff keeps your data on your own devices, the only places it can be read. Sync, when it arrives, is end-to-end encrypted, so that stays true.
How the encryption works-
Your plan lives on your phone
Everything you log is saved on your device first. The app works fully offline, with no account needed to start.
-
Sync will be sealed before it leaves
Sync between devices arrives in an update. When it does, each entry is encrypted on the device with a key only your devices hold, and our server stores scrambled data it has no way to read.
-
Nothing about your vaping in analytics
We never send puff, craving or plan data to analytics tools, and we don't sell data. Not now, not in a future update.
The journey is free. Plus adds the extras.
TaperØff never charges for the quit itself. Plus is optional: buy it once and keep it, or pay monthly for the weeks you want it. Prices are set in your app store.

Questions people ask
I switched to vaping to stop smoking. Is this for me?
Possibly, but timing matters. Vaping is far less harmful than smoking, and the NHS advises only stopping vaping once you're confident you can do it without going back to cigarettes (NHS: How to quit vaping). If that's you, a gradual taper is a gentle way to finish the job. If you're not there yet, there's no rush.
What happens if I go over my allowance?
Nothing dramatic. Log it like any other window. If a couple of days run heavier, TaperØff offers to ease the curve: it picks up from where you actually are, and your quit day stays put. You choose whether to take it.
How long should my taper be?
As long as it needs to be. You choose the length when you set up, and you can ease or shorten the plan as you go. The calculator shows how different lengths change the curve and the money.
Do I need an account?
No. Your plan and your log live on your phone and work offline. Sync between devices arrives in an update, and it will use a passkey rather than a password.
Can you see what I log?
No. It stays on your phone and never comes to us. When sync arrives, everything will be encrypted on your device before it leaves, with keys only your devices hold, so our server will store data it can't read. The security page explains how.
What does Plus cost, and what if I stop?
Plus is optional. You can buy it once and keep it, or pay monthly and cancel whenever you like through your app store. The free plan is the complete quit journey and stays that way with or without Plus. If you slip and start again, that's free too.
Is TaperØff medical advice?
No. It's a tool that helps you follow a plan. For personal advice, your GP, a pharmacist or your local NHS Stop Smoking Service can help, for free.
